Conservation of Electricity

"If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward".
The shortage of electricity shows us how it’s important in our day to day lives, only by just switching on and off buttons. Because of the power failure, it reminds us that how much we are depending on it.  Electricity is a Renewable Resources of Energy and it is the cheapest form of resources. Electricity is largely produced by power stations burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas; nuclear fission can also be used to produce electricity. All these are not renewable - there is a finite amount of fuel in the world and when it is used up, that's it.
Hydro, wind, tidal, geothermal, biomass, and solar power are all regarded as renewable forms of energy because they aren't finite. We use their energy, and it still keeps coming.
Thomas Edition used Co generators – a plant that produces electricity and uses the waste heat to manufacture products which saves money and ensure they have a reliable source of energy that they can control 7% of this electricity is used in U. S. As the population is rising our natural resources are also decreasing, experts had predicts that we will need about 172 thousands more megawatts for generating electricity by the year 2030.  Demand for electricity will go on increase in future. We must also make machines and appliances much energy efficient.

In India, there is an energy shortage from past few years, increase in population and usage of electricity is growing on. But in others parts of the India still there is no light. So, to get sufficient amount of electricity load shedding is done in some part of Mumbai, every unit of energy saved is equivalent to 1.3 unit of energy generated. Cheap and sub-standard gadgets consume more electricity as compared to expensive standard gadgets and prove to be costlier on a long run. Electricity is an important driver for industrial and agricultural growth. Consideration should be given to the "life cycle cost" rather than the capital cost while purchasing any gadget. It is difficult to predict and control future energy demand in this sector because of the economic, social, geographic and climatic factors that influence its development and growth.

The Maharashtra state electricity distribution company ltd (MSEDCL), Mumbai said “that in view of better frequency in June and July, the power company met the demand by overdrawing up to 400 MW to 1200 MW from the central grid. But this availability was uncertain and cannot be considered while planning the load-shedding plan. "In spite of the increased load-shedding hours, MSEDCL had to carry out distress load-shedding .The load-shedding protocol is prepared by considering the maximum gap and the firm power available. If the additional power is made available, then load-shedding is withdrawn as per the Merc guidelines," said managing director,  Ajay Mehta
Save Electricity by Checking BEE Labels
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Star Energy Efficiency Labels have been created to standardize the energy efficiency ratings of different electrical appliances and indicate energy consumption under standard test conditions.  These labels indicate the energy efficiency levels through the number of Stars highlighted in color on the label.  The BEE Star Labels include a Star Rating System that ranges from One Star (least energy efficient, thus least money saved) to Five Stars (most energy efficient, thus most money saved)
How to Conserve Electricity
With the cost of energy rising, it's important to conserve electricity as much as possible. Not only does this save money, but it helps the environment as well.
Ø  Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Using a power strip makes it easier to conserve electricity because you just have to unplug one cord instead of many. Also unplug any chargers that aren't in use because they still use electricity even when they're not actively charging something.
Ø  Set your thermostat at a reasonable temperature. Set it as high or as low as you need to be comfortable, but don't heat or cool excessively.
Ø  Use your appliances efficiently to conserve electricity. Refrain from opening your oven unnecessarily because it has to work harder and use more energy to heat back up; only run the dishwasher when it is fully loaded; adjust the water level on the washing machine for smaller loads and clean out the lint filter in your drier before every load.
Ø  Turn off the lights when you leave a room. If your lights have a dimmer switch, dim the lights as much as possible. Also use sunlight to your advantage during the day and turn off artificial lighting.

Tips & Warnings

Ø  Leave the thermostat on when you leave the house. The air conditioner or heater has to work twice as hard when you turn it back on.
Ø  Hang clothes on a clothesline instead of using a drier to conserve electricity.

28 YEARS WAIT OVER FOR INDIA????????

Cricket is like festival in India. Aalla re Aalla world cup Aalla…… The event is conducted by International Cricket Council (ICC). In 1983, India Won the World Cup for the first time & it was watershed moment for India. After that India team created its mark on world cricket. In 2003 India reached to final of World Cup but lost the last match. In 2007, India was thrash in the first round in Caribbean. This time Chief Selector K.Srikkanth has done his work now it’s on Captain M.S.Dhoni & team. The 15 men team is well balance. The three specialist spinners apart, India also has a host of part-time spin bowling options to choose from with Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan and Virender Sehwag all being more than capable of bowling at least three-four overs each whenever the need arises.
India has four fast bowlers in the squad, including Munaf, but the undisputed spearhead of the attack will again be Zaheer Khan, who has been in tremendous form of late. The one change that could have been considered is picking Vinay Kumar ahead of Munaf. Vinay swings the ball both ways and is also fairly accurate apart from being a decent fielder. While it could be argued that Ashish Nehra's problems with line and length are slightly similar to Munaf's, the Delhi bowler is a better bet when he gets things going for himself.
There are eight batsmen in the squad, including Dhoni, who is also the sole wicket-keeper, which is a bit of a surprise considering it is a long tournament. The most notable exclusion in this department is Rohit Sharma, who deservedly fails to make the cut. He may be one of the best batting talents in the country, but unless Sharma starts to do justice to his potential by stringing in consistent performances, he will keep missing out on important series and tournaments.
The concerns in the batting department mainly centre on Yuvraj and Raina. That being said, both the southpaws thrive in the batting-friendly pitches on the sub-continent and will be itching to salvage their reputations in the World Cup.
A point that merits mention is that three of India's premier batsmen in Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag andGautam Gambhir are currently injured but they are expected to regain full fitness before the tournament gets underway on February 19, but until they do step out on to the field, there will be some anxiety surrounding the trio. However, in Virat Kohli, India has a potential future superstar in the make, and the youngster would look to enhance his reputation with some match-winning performances. The exploits of Yusuf have been well documented, and he is certainly India's 'X' factor.
All in all, it looks to be a well-balanced squad and with the highs that Indian cricket has experienced in the last couple of seasons, this could potentially be India's best chance of ending its 28-year wait for the ICC World Cup in the 50-over format.

NUPUR TALWAR ON NDTV

Aarushi’s parents are shocked and shattered  after hearing the courts verdict, “I'm shocked and completely shattered by this kind of an accusation”, said Nupur Talwar while speaking to NDTV's Barkha Dutt on The Buck Stops Here. “There is no justice in India, it’s a banana republic”, she added.
Is it a speculation or else a truth ….? The answer would be soon disclosed after the parents trial. Well, but Aarushi with such a long exposure has become one of the most sensational stories of decade.

                          THIS IS WHAT PROPLE THINK

Everyone everywhere want to have updates on this story. The youth is upset with the officials. Everyone has their own predictions to the fact. But still its hard to demonstrate the same.
“Dr. Talwar definitely. Hit Arushi from behind and then slit her throat. Killed the servant too. No proof left behind as he already got hours to get rid of these” , one of the dectective’s prediction to case. This is what  ADV. SNEHAL B. KOLHE predicts “ According to me there is some extramarital affair is going on between Dr. Talwar & Dr. durani. Arushi must have seen something very unexpected and by this incident Dr. Talwar got feared & so to vanish all his fear he killed hisown daughter Aarushi then he killed  Hemraj who was the evidence of Aarushi’s murder.

Single case and many suspects, first Hemraj, then Rajesh Talwar, Hemraj’s friends(3 servants), Durani’s (Talwar's family friends). Who is the murderer? Who killed Aarushi……..? This is what everyone needs to know. “The murderer should be hanged to death” , these are the reactions of  common people and they want, “JUSTICE TO AARUSHI”.

IS SACHIN TENDULKAR GREATEST THAN SIR DONALD BRADMAN?

SPORTING IDOLS

One who brought the smiles on the faces of people at the time of Great Depression and another who made cricket as the religion and is worshiped as the God. One is known for is impeccable average and Strike Rate and another is known for his centuries. They are none other than Sir Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar. Sir Don Bradman’s batting average of 99.94 was the greatest achievement in cricketing history whereas Sachin Tendulkar by hitting 97 International centuries has set another benchmark in cricketing world.

HOW THE DEBATE LIGHT UP?

At the time of Sir Donald Bradman retirement nobody would have thought that he will get compared with any other player. The handful of people started debate in 1996 cricket world cup when Don Bradman finds similarity between sachin’s technique, compactness and stroke production. The debate re-ignited after 14 years when Sachin completed 51 tons of test centuries. Even though both of them have played in different eras it’s natural to compare both the legends due to their historic performance.

BRADDLES RECORD MACHINE

Bradman who made his debut in 1928 and played for twenty years scored 6996 runs at a magnificent average of 99.94 and 29 hundreds  in that he slammed ten double hundreds and two triple hundreds in mere 52 Tests. His strike rate was also brilliant than Master Blaster. He set World record by scoring brilliant 452 runs in just 415 minutes against Queens Land at SCG.

NO PROTECTION BUT STILL GREAT

He played at the time when there were uncovered pitches, no helmets and arm guards. At that time, there were not many World class bowlers, but still faced Jardine tactics of body line bowling and Larwood who used to bowl around 95 Miles per hour.

On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar made his debut on 15th November 1989 against arch rival Pakistan in Karachi. The Master recently completed 21 years in International cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is cricket ultimate Marathon Man. In his 21 year span, played 177 Test matches and 444 ODI and scored more than 32,000 runs and 97 tons in both the format. Last year, he attached another feather to his cap by hitting double hundred in ODI and became the first man on the planet to hit so.

FITNESS, PRESSURE AND OPPOSITION

The record speaks about his fitness level from last Two decades whereas Bradman played only 52 test in his tenure. The amount of Pressure Sachin had is unbelievable as every time he goes to bat more than one billion fans expect him to hit hundred. The Little Master had conquered every Cricketing Continent by slamming hundreds against every Test playing opponents while Bradman was untested in Indian Sub-Continent. He has adapted brilliantly in both the format and faced World class bowlers like Clenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Imran khan, Curtly Ambrose, Alan Donald, Shane Warne, Murlitharan and many others.

DONO BRADMAN

Both Bradman and Tendulkar have shown the world the picture of concentration. Both are short in height but they stand taller in the game. Its regret that we haven’t seen Bradman bat but still we are lucky to see Sachin bat. But they are Genius of two different times. It is unfair to get concrete opinion on this greatest debate. It is our privilege to have such a greats in the game of cricket.

Hariyali – Maintaining Greenery..........

credits-Google.images

The moment we hear the word” green”, automatically, we see the trees, the plants and other aspects of environment in our minds. It’s a colour of freshness. It depicts life.  We feel good and glad when we see any beautiful phenomenon of nature. But, do you think we do anything for our wonderful environment? Do we do anything to protect or save it? In fact, how many of us even care to remember about our environment in our hectic schedules?
My dear friends, I am not blaming you but trying to bring to your attention that our ecosystem is in a big trouble and we must do something about it. There are many institutes or NGO’s (Non Government Organisation) working to save our nature or trying to maintain the balance in the nature. Hariyali is one such organization.
‘’Hariyali’’ – the name itself means Greenery. The NGO works for the protection and up gradation of environmental conditions .It has its base in Thane (Twin city of Mumbai, Capital of Maharashtra & commercial capital of India).

THE HISTORY

credits-Google.images
                         Prof. Punam Singavi.

Prof. Punam Singavi founded Hariyali in 1996 with his 15 friends. Mr.  A.G. Tilak, Prin. L.S. Bhole, Prin. Y.B. Bhide, Prin. A.D. Oak, Surendra Dighe, Vijay Singavi, Rajendra Surana, V.K. Kelkar were some of the other founder members. There were other prominent socially conscious citizens from Thane and Mulund with him. As of today there are about 500 members of the Organization.  Basic objectives of the organization have been to improve the environmental conditions of our surroundings with special emphasis on afforestation, water conservation and generation of environmental awareness in the society. Emphasis has been on conducting all such activities through ‘Shramdan’ (voluntary labour) rather than under any Governmental Project or with the aid of any funding agency.

   Other objectives are as follows:-

  1)    Protection of Bio-diversity and natural resources.
  2)    Emphasis on self education through inquisitiveness and self help.

The organization is a pool of academicians, field workers, writers, researchers, scholars, scientists, professionals from various industries. Many executives and administrators work for this institute.

   Hariyali logo

Hariyali has flourished because of their contribution. But the main strength of the organization lies in the participation and involvement of the school/ college going students, social conscious citizens and nature lovers.

There are many different activities carried out by an organisation.

Distinguishing features of the Organization includes its constructive approach towards environmental problems, working through peoples' participation and shramdan with special emphasis on students from schools and colleges, employees of corporate sector and academicians. In future they want to expand the activities throughout the country.
"People always tend to think that it is the job of all others but not themselves to conserve our environment. Just as we care about our own house, we need to care about our surrounding, as well”, said Mr. Punam Singavi, President Founder of Hariyali.

Response from people from all sections of the society is very encouraging for the organisation.

Message for the citizens/students/youngsters by Prof. Punam Singavi:-

Try and address the environmental problems with a positive frame of mind rather than resorting to agitation methods. Just as we need more and more trees, we need the industrial development too. Finance is indispensable for any organization and ours also cannot do without it. Nor is it true that given lot of money we can solve our environmental problems. There has to be an urge to address our social problems.

So, friends are you ready to take up charge? Let’s join hands and do something for our mother nature. It’s not difficult or even time consuming.  You only need to have the will and you will easily get a way. You can sure be a member of any NGO like mentioned above or just do one simple thing, next time you are about to throw a polythene bag on the streets, Think twice!

IMPORTANCE OF MANGROVES

IMPORTANCE OF MANGROVES
Mangroves are the trees that you will find the most throughout the coastline of world. Mangroves are very important in all aspects to the Environment and it’s people. Best Reason is Mangrove tree have been the Source of firewood in India Since ancient time. Society is so much selfish that it look for their Own Desire only and not it effect it will have on others. For Instance, Most of things in society are done with the help of Mangrove trees such as building house, furniture, transmission as well as telephone poles and certain household items. In most of countries coastal area uses Mangroves as a substitute product for fodder. Thus Mangroves reduce pressures from the scarce pasture lands and how it shows it’s importance.

USES OF MANGROVES
Mangroves are buffers between land and sea. Coastlines throughout the world facing problem of global warming and because of it Coastline faces serious problem of rising Sea level. Honey collection from Mangrove forest is a promising business in India since ages it is coming on. Mangroves admittedly, are not only important  but crucial for the coastal area. It is possible to derive timber products from Mangrove forests without Significant environment degradation and while maintaining their value as a nursery and a source of food for commercial capture fisheries.

Awareness about MANGROVES
In the past few years there has been an increase in the awareness of the people. Residents associations are coming together to spread  this awareness. The NGO’s are making efforts to highlight the issue like land reclamation, coastal regulation zone notification and illegal destruction of the Mangrove areas through the interventions of the government and bodies.
For instance :- Recent case of vashi airport area cutting down Mangroves trees for capturing more space for airport in unlawful and illegal manner. The protection of Mangrove ecosystem is possible only through participation of the people. Media has also played vital role in generating  awareness about such an important and crucial thing.

EXPLOITATION AND CONSERVATION
Last several decades study shows Approximately 35% of Mangrove area was lost of the twentieth century. shrimp farming  causes a quarter of the destruction of mangrove forests. the 2010 update of the World Mangrove Atlas  indicated a fifth of the world's mangrove ecosystems have been lost since 1980. It has been cited that mangroves can help buffer against Tsunami, cyclones, and other storms.
ADVANTAGES
Red mangroves exclude salt by having significantly impermeable roots which are highly suberised, acting as an ultrafiltration mechanism to exclude sodium salts from the rest of the plant.

LimitED water loss

Because of the limited fresh water available in salty intertidal soils, mangroves limit the amount of water they lose through their leaves. They can restrict the opening of their stomata pores on the leaf surfaces, which exchange carbon dioxide gas and water vapour during photosynthesis.
Credit Google (Wikipedia)
In this harsh environment, mangroves have evolved a special mechanism to help their offspring survive. Mangrove seeds are buoyant and therefore suited to water dispersal. Unlike most plants, whose seeds germinate in soil, many mangroves (e.g. red mangrove) are viviparous, whose seeds germinate while still attached to the parent tree. Viviparous plants produce seeds that germinate before they detach from the parent. In many mangroves, for instance, the seedling germinates and grows under its own energy while still attached to its parent before dropping into the water in order to transport away. In some trees, like Jackfruit, the seeds can be found already germinated while the fruit goes overripe; this condition cannot be said as vivipary since the moist and humid conditions provided by the fruit mimics like a wet soil that encourages germination. However, the seeds can germinate under soil too. viviparies are also known muflorlds as they are the main ones in their family.
What are the benefits of growing Mangroves
